Gary Hobbs
Born in Elizabeth City, Gary began looking at house plans at the age of twelve and that experience influenced the way he works with his customers and clients as a Real Estate Broker with Hall and Nixon Real Estate.
Upon graduation from East Carolina University with a degree in Business Education and from NC State University with a Masters in School Administration, he joined the world of classroom teacher and school administrator. Gary taught Middle School in Durham and became Director of Vocational Education for Durham County Schools. From there, he was Regional Vocational Director of Northeastern NC, Vocational Director of Pitt County Schools in Greenville and then back home to Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools, where he was Vocational Director until his retirement.
Did Gary retire? Only if you consider the nineteen years in Real Estate as retirement. He started as a full time agent, then became Sales Manager for eight years. Currently Gary is a Broker and Director of Education. He enjoys being the rainmaker and referring his clients to our agents while building relationships with the clients and supporting the agents business. The educator comes out in providing educational experiences and classes to the agents to assist them in growing their successful business. With the love of real estate and education – Gary has reached the place in life where he can say – “If you love what you are doing, you will never work another day”.
Gary is very active in the community. He has been involved with Elizabeth City Downtown, Elizabeth City Historic Neighborhood Association, Historic Preservation Commission for the City of Elizabeth City, Elizabeth City Pasquotank County Schools Parent/Community Advisory Committee and the American Red Cross. Due to the love of the arts, he is involved with many visiting and local artists and a sponsor for Music On The Green.
His clients and friends say that his high energy and the fact that he has never met a stranger shows his love for people and being their Source of the Source.
